…and breathe

Today is going to be one of those days. It’s only 10am and I’m already longing for bedtime…my own that is!

My son does not want to sleep today. He is overtired, I am overtired, and we are both grumpy.

I was working til 11pm last night, which means that by the time I got home from work, had dinner, and wound down for the night, it was half midnight. It then took another hour for me to get to sleep because my son was constantly coughing. Poor kid. Poor me.

Cue 5am when he decides it’s time to wake up….er no? Theo, your 6am starts are early enough thank you!

So we start our morning routine at 5am, and then I put him back to bed in the hope that he will sleep a bit more. 6:30 comes, and apparently that’s enough sleep for him…so up we get.

It is now 10am and I have been trying to get him to nap for the past hour.

“Theo is it naptime?”

“Yeah!”

Apparently the correct answer was no Mummy, of course it’s not naptime. Don’t be silly!

        1. I feel your pain…I used to suffer from bad insomnia before I had a child to exhaust me! The only thing I found that occasionally helps is stretching/flexing…lie in bed and slowly stretch each part of your body one at a time, starting at your toes and working your way up. Focus on it as you’re doing it. It can help to take your mind off whatever is keeping you awake, and help to relax your body too.
